To the editor: Quite than spending a fortune on a Los Angeles River mission that might profit the few, why not profit the plenty by doing what Valencia, Spain, did to its Turia River in 1969? For flooding functions it diverted the river and turned the previous riverbed into parkland. (“An L.A. River champion presents a imaginative and prescient for reimagining the waterway — and the town’s future,” Oct. 9)

Valencia now has miles of parks which might be full of individuals having fun with all method of actions. L.A. wants extra parks, and a mission like this is able to carry parks nearer to so many individuals.

To the editor: God bless L.A. River advocate Melanie Winter. I do know all about “you haven’t acquired an opportunity in hell” advocacy. You’ve acquired to expend tons of vitality and lose at one degree after one other.

There’s nothing fairly like a good suggestion. When an thought is so proper, on this case saving a river, a constructive response has to exist someplace sooner or later.

I hope Winter lives to see the fruit of her labor.
